The Rats of VnV Stables

Note: I've suffered the loss of three of my babies recently over the last few months and I've had a hard time coming here to update because of it. Pixie died in a freak accident, I still don't know what happened but I found her mangled and she died after a few days of my trying to help her recover. After that Dragon, one of my dearest pals, wasted away and died despite all efforts to help him. And today, Feb. 22, 2008, my beloved Samson succumbed to cancer.

The Bucks

Badger

My favorite boy! Yes, his fur is dirty. He has a problem with the red tears rats have getting all over his fur all the time. Isn't he the cutest thing though?

Dragon

Yes, the spoiled little brat. Cute little ham that he is. Though I think he's hiding some devious plans under his cute exterior..just look at this:

RIP Winter 2007: Beloved companion, special soul. I will always miss you, and so will your adoptive mother Tracey.

Fieval

He's a friendly guy, and probably the biggest. He loves his food.

Onyx

Onyx is a sweetie, probably one of the more friendly ones. Unfortunately he seems to have some kind of growth, hopefully it's not a tumor. Doesn't seem to bother him, he's happy as can be.

Onyx decides he's picking the movie out tonight.

Samson

Isn't he cute? He's the oddball of the litter and he knows he's special.

RIP February 22, 2007: Samson, you were appropriately named. You had the heart of a champion, and the soul of a fighter even after your illness got to the point most would have just given up. I hope you find your peace now, I will never forget your spirit.

Sion

Poor little Sion has bad allergy problems or something, he sneezes a lot and sometimes has trouble breathing. He's a happy little guy though.

Update: May 24, 2007 - Sion has passed away due to complications with his illness. Finally he has peace. Towards the end he grew very affectionate and enjoyed the times I would take him out to play, and he loved his chocolate bars. He will be sorely missed.

Squall

Squall's a little rascal. Always looking for an escape route.

Templeton the 3rd (Tempe)

Tempe is a fun loving little party animal, but also a little bit shy. He has such a silky coat.

The Does:

The does are not as friendly/people oriented as the males. I attribute this to Trinket being a rescued feeder rat and very nervous and her girls picking up on it. They're just very fast and very jumpy and want to do their own thing not be told what to do by some annoying human. Don't we all? As such, it was hard to get decent pictures of them because I was too busy chasing them.

Trinket

The mother of them all! And yes, she is the tiniest. I don't think she ever recovered from having babies so early. She's still my special little girl though, and such a sweetie, just a bit jumpy.

Vixen

Vixen is the friendliest, or was..she seems to have gotten an adversion to being picked up lately, squeaks like she's being murdered. Don't know why, nothing tragic happened to her while I was handling her. Anyway, isn't she a gorgeous color?

Dart

Cute isn't she? At first she was the fastest of them all, that's why she got her name, but now she's the slowest..or the friendliest..can't tell which it is..she's still really quick though, hence the crappy pictures.

RIP Winter 2007 - Pixie: I don't know what happened to cause you to be taken from me, your bright eyes and spirit were stolen far too soon. The world seems like a colder, darker, place without you to light it.
