The Bucks - August 30, 2006

Decided it was about time to update the website with pictures of the rats again. They've all grown so much! Samson, Badger, Dragon, and Templeton are my favorites, but I love them all. Please be patient as the photos load.

Dragon

Dragon is of course the rat that my best friend Tracey chose out of the litter and named. He still lives here since it'd be too hard of a trip for him to travel from CA to PA. Of course he's also spoiled rotten because of that and gets the most camera time. :) He has a bad habit of wanting to chew on everything, and likes to nibble on fingers/shirts. Guess that's what happens when you name one after a predator. He is a blue-ish tan hooded with a big star on his head.

Squall

Named after the shy male lead character in Final Fantasy 8, Squall is just that. Shy. He's the shyest of the bunch, timid, but also always on the move. He's the only one thus far that NEARLY escaped into no-rat's-land (also known as land of the sick predators known as house cats). He's a slippery little guy. More tan than the photos show, he's a tan hooded with a very faint white spot on his forehead.

Samson

Named of course after the biblical strongman, Samson was the largest of the litter. He's also the odd man out as far as color, he's a creamish with ruby eyes. He's no longer the largest, but he's definitely unique. He's got a very friendly/easy going personality, and he's my pal.

Sion

Sion is named after a dark elf in my fantasy novel I'm working on. He's a silky black dream with white underbelly. He's very curious, and likes to boss some of the others around. He's also the food gatherer, he'll try to take what everyone's eating and stockpile it.

Onyx

Onyx is named after a vampire in my novels. He's the largest one at the moment, and he knows it. He's the top of the food chain, and makes certain all the others know. He's kind of a bully but we love him anyway. He's a black hooded with almost black back as well, verigated with white and a tiny sliver of white on his forehead.

ratfeet

Fieval

Of course he's named after the mouse in the Fieval cartoons. He's probably the 'sewer rat' of the bunch, he's mostly a dark brown with lighter brown and black mixed in and a white belly. He's really friendly, and always hungry.

Templeton the 3rd

(Tempe)

My first rat was a black hooded that I got when I was six years old? I think, which I named Templeton after the rat in Charlotte's Web. Since then all black hooded males that look like the first one remind me of him, so this Tempe is the third reincarnation. He's my little friend, he likes to be out and sit on my shoulder. He has the silkiest black head I've ever seen, and a spot on his back.

ratfeet

Badger

Badger is my baby. He was my favorite from the start, and his cuteness should be illegal. He's a blue-ish tan masked with a wide blaze, the rest of him is white. His markings give him such an expression, and he's a little trouble maker.
