Model Horse Fun Club
Showing in MHFC
Showing is the main purpose of MHFC (besides having fun!).
Requirements for showing in MHFC:
Once entered you do NOT have to enter your horses every month to show, but an email every month telling me you're still around and want to show would be nice, just so I know.
Entering the show will require that you have your photos online in your own album at: Photobucket Their albums are FREE, and they give you tons of space. If you are unable to get an album for yourself for whatever reason details must be worked out with the club president to see if you qualify to enter using the club's photo album.
There is no restriction on how many photos per class or per show per member. This means some of the shows are very large. This is meant to be fun and no one is 'required' to judge every show and all its classes, some people actually do like to judge huge classes. HOWEVER, there is a limit of 15 entries per division per month. I just can't keep up with dozens of people sending me emails full of hundreds of entries every couple of days when it takes 10 min or more to add just one entry to the shows.
If you have problems with any of these requirements please don't join.
Photo shows for this club are listed online, but may only be accessed by members of the club to try to preserve their photos from being stolen. You may NOT link any non-member to the club shows for any reason, and anyone seen posting these links publicly will be banned from the club. All photos are listed in the shows with explicit permission of the copyright holders to do so, borrowing these photos for anything else from the show page constitutes copyright infringement and is illegal. The club will pursue and seek to have any site hosting these 'stolen' photos shut down.
Photo requirements:
The size limit is 350 pixels on the largest side of the photo (either height or width). We now require you also send a link to a second photo that is no larger than 250 on the largest side. Photos above this size will not be put into the show until they are resized. Photos may have MINOR touchups done, if touchups are not obvious (just like you'd touch up an OF slightly but not enough to make it a CM). Obviously fake/doctored photos will be disqualified and banned from the shows. You are allowed to show horses you don't personally have in your possession in the following instances:
They are OFs you personally took the photos of, are not one of a kind models, and you did NOT sell the rights to those photos with the model.
They are horses you have purchased photo show rights for.
Entering the show:
All photos MUST be uploaded into an album you own on Photobucket.com. This is a reliable host that I know works for how I set up the club show pages, others we've tried have not worked. Alternatively if you have a paid webhost that you use that might also work, please email me for more details. To enter the show, register your horses then separate them by which show they will be entered in and send the following information to the club president:

If you can separate the above information with a TAB only that would be greatly appreciated. Please make sure your photobucket album is set to public, I can't use pictures if your album is private, and please do NOT move or rename any photos entered in the show unless you email me and tell me you're doing so.

The Fun Show:
The fun show is different than all the other shows in MHFC. While all shows in the club are supposed to be fun, the others follow a set logical pattern and horses earn points for year end prizes. The fun show however is open to just about anything (meaning anything still hobby related/animal related), the actual things entered do not earn the points for placing, and all points are kept for their OWNERS by a separate person than the point keeper for the other shows. You do still have to meet the requirements for entering shows that the other shows have. The fun show classlist is as follows:
Judging the shows:
MHFC shows run with multiple judges every month. Everyone in the club is urged to judge, and all results are tallied seperately for points. This gives you the same benefit you would get showing in several shows a month.
To judge either use the form provided on the club mailing list (preferred) or send the following information for each class: Class name, placings 1-10 (if there's ten) using the Horse's Name. Please copy/paste the name from the show site to avoid confusion for the point holder.
I will NOT tolerate anyone complaining about the size of the show/judging the show. If you can't judge it, then don't judge it, don't fill the list up with whining complaints about how big the show is. No one is forced to judge the entire show.
General judging guides:
CLEAR and BRIGHT photos where the horse is clearly visible should place over fuzzy and/or dark. Gender classes should be judged mostly on gender suitability, breed classes on breed suitability, color on color suitability. Other than that judges are allowed to judge however they feel is best.
You MAY judge classes your horses are in, as long as you can judge fairly. Remember there will be more than one judge, and if I catch you placing all your horses first when no other judge does, I will not allow you to judge or show anymore. This doesn't mean you can never place your horse first, but be sure you aren't just placing it out of sentimental value because it's yours. :)
