Horses must..MUST be black or blue-black. No sunburnt black horses are allowed. Sunburnt black, while realistic in non-show horses, is not realistic for those showing in halter. Any real horse shower with a black horse showing in halter would take any means necessary not to let their show horse fade, and would be too embarrassed to show a ‘sunburnt’ black. Therefore showing sunburnt blacks, especially from breeds that pride themselves on blue black (such as Friesians) is unrealistic. It’s a disturbing trend in the hobby right now, and any judge worth their salt would never place a sunburnt black over blue black in a halter show. This show is for black horses, not pseudo bays that were ‘sunburnt’ just for the sake of adding shading. And I’m not just making this up because I don’t like sunburnt blacks, I’ve been studying breeding and showing of black Arabians my entire life, and I worked on a Friesian ranch. The definition of the color black is: Black horses have pure black coats with no signs of brown or any other color.
All classes may be split CM/Resin/Stone/Breyer/Mini if entries warrant the splits. All classes may be split between breeds if there’s enough entries. If not sure where to put your horses please email me and ask.
If emailing entries please limit it to 10 per email, and I prefer links to where I can find them online as opposed to you attaching the photos. All emails should have the following information on each photo: Horse's Name, Color, Breed, Gender, Make (OF/CM/Resin etc), Owner Name/email address.
Fees can be paid by paypal, or sent snail mail. Entries can be emailed to vnvstables@yahoo.com with the subject line “Bring out your Blacks show entries”, or they can be snail mailed to Samantha Kroese, 15005 Blackfoot Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307

The Boring Colors Show started in response to the current show trends that favor horses with wild colors or patterns. In my showing experience these horses nearly always got knocked down in favor of wilder colors, and I thought I’d give them a chance to show against others like them and promote the showing of ‘boring’ colors.
