1st Annual
Forgotten Stars Photo Show
A photo show for Breyer model horses.

They stand faithfully on your shelves, looking at you forlornly as you gather 'better' models for the shows. Those forgotten horses, those that are deemed unworthy to show. Old molds tossed by the wayside by new and more realistic molds, new molds with flaws that can't be forgiven. They stand, and perhaps dream of a day when they'll be chosen for a show. Where they can prove themselves again. Were they champions of the past who are now retired? Or are they just a fanciful and indulgent whim of their owners?

Their chance is now.

"Forgotten Stars" is open to the following Breyer models that are deemed unworthy of showing, and unworthy of even gracing a collection by many. I challenge you to dust off your forgotten horses and give them at least one chance to shine. Here they won't be laughed at or ridiculed. Here they will show against others like them. Here they will be judged by someone who sees them as more than just toss away molds to be forgotten.

Entry fee is free, just in case you really don't feel like they're worth paying to enter in a show. I want to see them, all of them! Unlimited entry, but please only one photo per horse per class.

Top Tens in each class will be listed on a results page online for everyone to admire (if you enter you are granting me permission to use your photo on that page and that page only, you will be credited and a watermark can be provided if you wish). Please no obvious watermarks across the model for entering, but a watermark that doesn't cover any part of the horse is allowed.

Judge: Samantha Kroese
Entry Deadline: December 1st, 2007 (all entries will close at 1 am PST on that day)
Show dates – December 1st to 10th.
Prizes: Each first place horse will receive a blanket made to fit them with the name of the show AND the place they won in it, and a garland of roses so they can look the part of a champion with pride. Please state when you enter whether or not you would like the prizes, if you don't want them and won't keep them please opt out so I can save a little money and not make them. : )

Best in Show prize will go to the one horse in each category that is the judge's favorite for whatever reason. These two winners will get a custom painted Breyer stablemate done by VnV Studios/Samantha Kroese. Best in Show prizes sponsored by the Model Horse Fun Club (a free online showing community where we encourage any model to show without ridicule or prejudice), and by the Model Horse Photo Showing Museum (preserving the heritage of model horse photo showing for future generations). Click on any of the underlined names to go to the websites.

Class sponsorships are available at 1.00 a class (or you may send more if you like). If I get four sponsors, the winner of that class will receive a NIP Breyer stablemate. Show your support of your favorite mold and sponsor a class. Prize donations are welcome, as are monetary donations towards covering the shipping of the prizes.

Rules:
This is open to Original Finish horses only. Prefer horses in PSQ condition, but if you really want to enter 'well loved' horses that's ok too, maybe I can split the classes for them if there's enough.

Halter classes are for realistic/show photos of your horses. Treat them as if they're the best top quality NAN champions and give them a photo to be proud of! If necessary I will split the classes between novice (youth exhibitor or someone who has never won a grand champion at a photo show) and everyone else, but novice entrants must have taken their own photos. Please mark on your entries if you are a novice.

Photo Challenge Classes: These are creative classes. I want to see how creative you can be with describing 'why' your horses are the way they are, or have fun with setups for them. Maybe Khemosabi looks the way he does with that long slick tail because he's just had a bath. Maybe Roemer sees a snake on the ground and is trying to decide whether or not to shy. Maybe Morganglanz is running along trying to get a carrot stuck above his head. Or maybe your QH gelding is some little girl's backyard spoiled pony done up with ribbons. I want to see how creative you can get. Photos can have other horses in them but the mold listed SHOULD be the focus.

These classes are open to any variation on these molds, I have used the mold names they are 'commonly' known by, but if you have any questions about whether your horse is one or not please email me at vnvstables@yahoo.com

Halter classes will be judged on various things, including but not limited to: Realism, Picture Quality, Model Quality, Model Condition/Rarity, overall appeal (both horse and photo).
Challenge classes will be judged a lot on creativity.

How to enter:

Snail Mail:
You can enter by snail mail by sending your photos to Samantha Kroese, 15005 Blackfoot Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307  Please send a return envelope with appropriate postage if you want your photos returned to you. Printed photos are allowed but must be high quality printouts on photo paper.

Digital Entries:
Digital entries can be emailed as attachments to vnvstables@yahoo.com Please try to limit it to 10 entries per email, and please include show name in subject line so I know it's an email with entries for the show.

I will need a photo of your horse, plus the horse's name (if you've given it one, if not you can call it by it's mold name or whatever you like) and your name. You may include a breed/gender if you like, but it's not required.
